Mateusz Dąbrowski

Born in 1980 in Warsaw. Visual artist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he runs the Screen Printing Studio at the Faculty of Graphic Arts. Co-founder of the BARDO, KODA, and LUCA collectives. Mentor of the KISSPRINT Artistic Group, an initiative bringing together students and graduates of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and producing exhibitions and publications dedicated to contemporary printmaking.  He creates objects, installations, graphic works, and paintings. His practice focuses on what remains beyond direct experience—phenomena that are invisible, overlooked, or resistant to logic. By introducing movement into his objects, he refers to them as "active objects." In his works, matter is not merely a medium, but a carrier of meaning, while the materials used actively contribute to the interpretation of the piece.  Winner of the Grand Prix of Young Polish Graphic Art at the International Print Triennial in Kraków (2009), recipient of the Young Poland scholarship programme (2015), and nominee for the POLITYKA Passport Awards (2010). Participant of an artistic residency in Gütersloh (Germany) and numerous international exhibitions and projects.
