Symbolicae Dominandi Art Basel Public Program
Enveloped worlds of subconscious marks are smeared, erased and buffed to uncover hidden structures that allow the viewer to discern for themselves that which unravelsbefore them. Apophenia (the tendency to perceive a connection or meaningful pattern between unrelated or random things, such as objects or ideas) frees the work from the constraints of tangible representation, allowing meaning to be discerned individually. Balancing this is the juxtaposition with a „Gestalt based order of things“ to anchor new approaches to balance, shape, form, space, light, colour, movement, dynamics and expression. Paintings, murals and installations are experimented with to connect the fragments between figuration and abstraction. Gestures are offered whilst allowing meaning to unfold towards an unknown sense of the familiar.
