Portrait of the artist Tycjan Knut
Tycjan Knut - born in 1985 in Warsaw, graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 2011 after studying painting in the studio of Prof. Jan Kochanowski in Kielce, Poland. He received his doctorate from the Institute of Fine Arts at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. He works in painting and drawing.
He creates mostly subtle abstractions, in which there is an echo of the geometric trend, but also a desire to transcend this tradition, to free himself from the constraints of the formula. Knut uses delicate tonal differences and subtle colors. His reductive paintings also have the characteristics of multi-level composition, as they are created by the accumulation and overlapping of colors over time, in a manner reminiscent of the organic world. He is guided by intuition and imagination. He has been known to rummage through archives in search of long-forgotten or unknown abstract “masters,” as his interests focus on discovering art from the 1960s and 1970s.
He lives and works in London, paintings in collections: PKO Bank, El Contemporary Art Center, private collections in: UK, USA, Switzerland, Dubai, Monaco, China, Poland, Italy, Japan, France, Germany, or Mexico.
