Luca Harlacher

Luca Harlacher is a Swiss artist based in Winterthur whose practice explores the sensory overload and fragmented realities of contemporary life. His work thrives on contrast – chaos and clarity, playfulness and introspection, the personal and the planetary – without succumbing to cultural pessimism. Instead, he sees the simultaneity of contradictions, the coexistence of seemingly incompatible elements, as a source of energy, curiosity, and joy. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2019, Harlacher also completed an exchange semester at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) in Buenos Aires. Earlier, he attended the Propädeutikum at ZHdK, where he began shaping his visual language: dense, layered, and often infused with references to collective memory, pop culture, and absurdity. Harlacher’s solo exhibitions include 111 Screws to Unscrew in Space at ELEVEN TEN STUDIO in Basel (2025), After Work Mood & Beach Ball at CoinCoin Offspace in Zurich (2024), and Free Swimming Lessons for Everyone at Kunstkiste Akku Uster (2023). His 2022 solo show «Erstens: Frag den Schmetterling» at Kunsthalle Schaffhausen marked a significant moment in his career, showcasing his ability to transform dense visual codes into poetic, open-ended narratives.
