Karolina Jarzębak

Born in 1990 in Kraków. A graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where she completed her diploma in 2017 in the studio of Professor Andrzej Bednarczyk. She works with objects, installations, video, and performance. Founder of the Jak Zapomnieć gallery (since 2018) and co-founder of Galeria 404 (2015–2017) in Kraków. Her practice is centered around phenomena occurring online — on forums, chats, and in online games — from which she builds new narratives. She materializes internet memes using traditional techniques, such as marquetry.

She has participated in numerous exhibitions, including at Galeria Widna, Szara Kamienica Gallery, Galeria Henryk, BWA Wrocław Główny, Gdańsk City Gallery, Bunkier Sztuki Contemporary Art Gallery, Bielska BWA Gallery, BWA Katowice, Galeria Promocyjna, Zachęta — National Gallery of Art, the Tadeusz Kantor Art Documentation Center CRICOTEKA, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Odesa (Ukraine). She was awarded the Grand Prix ex aequo at the 2023 Bielska Jesień. She has taken part in residencies at the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko and MeetFactory in Prague. She lives and works in Kraków.
