Krzysztof Jung

KRZYSZTOF JUNG (b. 1951, d. 1998 in Warsaw) was a painter, performer, and a friend and collaborator of Zeszyty Literackie. His drawings were published in issues 21, 40, 54, 63, 64, and 67 of ZL, and he also designed covers for a volume of poetry by Tomas Venclova and a collection of essays by Wojciech Karpiński. Issue 69 of ZL was dedicated to him.

A posthumous retrospective of his work took place in 1999 at Królikarnia in Warsaw (catalog: Krzysztof Jung, edited by Maryla Sitkowska). Another monographic exhibition, Krzysztof Jung – Transformation, was held at the Academy of Fine Arts Gallery in Warsaw in 2016 (catalog edited by Jakub Zgierski and Katarzyna Urbańska). In 2017, the exhibition Krzysztof Jung: Peintures et dessins took place at the Polish Library in Paris (catalog edited by Wojciech Karpiński and Anna Czarnocka). In 2019, the Schwules Museum in Berlin hosted Krzysztof Jung 1951–1998. Zeichnungen (curated by Wolfgang Theis), accompanied by the exhibition catalog Krzysztof Jung. Der männliche Akt / The Male Nude, featuring texts by Wolfgang Theis, Raimund Wolfert, and Dorota Krawczyk-Janisch, edited by Wojciech Karpiński and Mikołaj Nowak-Rogoziński (Schwules Museum, Berlin 2019).
