Ida Karkoszka

Ida Karkoszka

A sculptor actively involved in environmental and social issues. She is the author of several much-discussed protest actions, including the dragging of a horse sculpture along the road to the high mountain lake of Morskie Oko, as well as artistic commentaries on the fur industry, the poisoning of the Oder River, and deforestation in the Białowieża Forest. Her practice critiques social inequalities and advocates for animal rights. Sculpture, especially when placed in public space, is for her a medium of emotional expression, a tool to provoke reflection and a catalyst for dialogue. Karkoszka's sculptures have been shown in numerous major exhibitions, including the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, the Malta Biennale, Studio Cannaregio in Venice and the Mark Rothko Art Centre in Daugavpils. Her works are part of the collection of the British Museum in London.
