Sem Lala
Sem Lala is an artist and musician currently based in New York, studying at Bard College. An important moment in his exhibition activity occurred when gallerist Hugo Wheeler visited him in Elbasan, Albania. There, they discussed how a loss or shift in agency through appropriation affects the work. In 2021, Lala had his first solo exhibition at Plymouth Rock in Zurich. Previously, he exhibited at Weiss Falk in Basel (2020), gta Exhibitions in Zurich (2020), Haus Wien in Vienna (2021), Les Urbaines in Lausanne (2020), and Lateral Roma in Rome (2021). Under the alias Semka, he performed at Istituto Svizzero in Milan (2021), the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana (2021), and Kunsthalle Zurich in Zurich (2020). His second EP was released by Danse Noire in 2023.
