Jan Możdżyński

''What a wonderful feeling just to know that you are near'', oil on canvas

Jan Możdżyński (1986), creates paintings, drawings, objects and video works. Graduate of the Academy of the Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Hochschule fur Gestaltung und Kunst in Basel. His work revolves around the topics of sexual identity, gender and the stigma attached to sexual preferences. Możdżyński often refers to fetishes in the BDSM community. He draws a link between feminism and the rights of sexual minorities. His works capture situations related to role-playing and the disintegration of what is traditionally understood as male and female. He created a series of paintings-monuments regarding issues related to gender identity and sexual minorities, wanting to make them visible by including them in public space as an alternative vision of creating monuments praising the pleasure and joy associated with sexuality, striving for tolerance of otherness.
