In the 1970s and 1980s, Wanda Marzec’s (1944–2023) artistic practice became a bridge between the rigorous training of the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts and the rapidly evolving currents of American modernism. She began her career as a graphic designer for Warsaw’s POLEXPO and actively participated in Poland’s artistic life, exhibiting, among other institutions, at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art and the Museum of Sport and Tourism. In 1973, she emigrated to the United States and settled in New Jersey. Three years later, she received Second Prize in the prestigious Adam Styka Competition. Her work was subsequently shown at galleries including Lynn Kottler Gallery and Woman-Art Gallery.
