Ex Utero examines the relationships between humans and animals, advancing the argument that the idea of de-extinction—that is, the technological resurrection of extinct species—is a continuation of the philosophy responsible for the ecological catastrophe. By juxtaposing natural history museum displays, animal taxidermy, and contemporary biotechnology, the project challenges the scientistic narrative of human control over nature. Attempts to bring extinct creatures back to life appear here as a spectacle calculated for profit and consumption, prompting questions about the true motivations behind such actions.
