Mysteries
Polana Institute
21.11.2025 - 31.01.2026Mikołaj Sobczak’s exhibition at the Polana Institute explores the relationship between art and spiritual inquiry within esoteric movements such as Theosophy, Anthroposophy, and Archeosophy. The project grows out of the artist’s lifelong fascination with the occult, tracing how spiritual ideas have resonated through history and shaped his own personal journey.
The exhibition unfolds in three parts: a presentation of a private collection of artworks and publications associated with the Theosophical Society and Anthroposophy; a monumental painting inspired by the history of these movements and Helena Blavatsky’s book Isis Unveiled — an introduction into the Theatre of Mysteries; and a series of autobiographical paintings reflecting the artist’s experiences as a member of an Archeosophical group.
Sobczak’s exhibition serves as a meditation on the role of esoteric movements in times of political and social radicalization – both past and present – and on the enduring significance of the great spiritual mysteries on the enduring power of spiritual knowledge to envision transformations of consciousness and structures of power.
