“Painting Is a Joy – Even Priming the Canvas Is a Great Celebration!”
100th Anniversary of the Birth of Stefan Gierowski

A display of over 40 paintings as a part of Stefan Gierowski's anniversary celebration: he would have celebrated his 100th birthday in May 2025.

The exhibition is arranged based on the concept of a book developed by Stefan Gierowski for the Italian publishing house Skira. The artist proposed an original approach to the catalogue portion: he organized his paintings according to themes, which he titled: “Sky – Line,” “Light and Color,” “Earth: Divisions,” “Concepts,” “Beginning and End,” and “Abstraction.” While working on the book, he often said he would like to one day see an exhibition following this structure.

“There is no one way to create light in an image. There is no rule, and the light in the picture is either there or it is not. It depends on sensitivity, tenderness, talent, or something else, which makes it possible to combine all the conditions for its appearance and combine it so that it exists.”
