Paweł Zaręba (b. 1965, Warsaw) is a visual artist whose practice moves between painting, spatial exploration, and performative action. He studied painting and graphic arts at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, where he earned his diploma in the studio of Prof. Heinz Wagner and continued with postgraduate studies. He has received several scholarships, including the Berkenhoff-Stipendium (Worpswede), Kulturfonds Berlin, and Kunstfonds Sachsen.

Zaręba’s work is characterized by a tension between precision and gesture—ranging from nearly untouched, smooth surfaces of canvas and composite panels to ephemeral, expressive interventions within exhibition spaces. At the core of his inquiry lies the question of the artist’s presence and absence—the viewer is confronted with a void in which their own body and perception become integral to the artwork.

Since 2018, he has co-run Ośrodek Sztuki Lescer in Zalesie Górne—an independent residency and exhibition space housed in a revitalized modernist villa. Through his involvement, Lescer has become a site for experimentation and dialogue between history and the present, merging local context with the universal language of art.

Since 2024, Paweł Zaręba has been collaborating with Death of Man Gallery.
