Rafał Bujnowski b. 1974 in Wadowice (PL), lives and works in Warsaw (PL). He studied architecture at the University of Technology in Krakow (1993–1995) and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (1995–2000).
Painter, graphic designer, and author of videos, installations, and artistic actions. Cofounder and member of the art group Słynna Grupa Ładnie (1995–2001). A recurring theme in Bujnowski’s art is painting itself — specifically, the issues of authenticity and the relationship between representation and original, as well as mimesis. Bujnowski produces conceptual paintings that analyze the tension between illusionism and the actual construction of an artwork. His solo exhibitions have been presented at various venues, including Fundacja Dzielna (2021), Zachęta National Gallery of Art (2016), Galeria Arsenał in Białystok (2014), BWA Zielona Góra (2011), Kunstverein Düsseldorf (2005).
