Born 1986, Ruda Śląska, Poland) Magdalena Lazar is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores the archaeology of the present, failed predictions, and utopian visions related to the post-growth era. Through her work, she decodes cultural codes imposed on natural entities. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). Her works have been presented in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, BWA Wrocław, Bunkier Sztuki and Cricoteka in Kraków, BWA Katowice, BWA Tarnów, MS2 in Łódź, Temporary Gallery in Cologne, Centrala Gallery in Birmingham (UK), MeetFactory in Prague (Czech Republic), Chongqing Dimensions Art Centre (DAC) in China, AlbumArte in Rome, and Institut für Alles Mögliche in Berlin. She also complements her artistic practice with curatorial work.
