Kinga Burek

A visual artist, painter, draughtswoman and art historian. She graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where she studied in Professor Andrzej Bednarczyk’s studio, and from the Art History programme at the Jagiellonian University. Her artistic practice focuses on painting and drawing, primarily using egg tempera. Her work revolves around the experience of everyday life, explored through social, political and autobiographical contexts.

She was named Person of the Year 2020 at the Kraków Art Salon. She is a two-time winner of the Hestia Artistic Journey competition (19th and 20th editions), whose final exhibition was held at the Museum on the Vistula in Warsaw in 2021. She was a finalist in the Bielska Jesień Painting Biennale in 2021 and 2025. In both 2024 and 2025, she ranked among the top three artists in the Young Art Compass ranking. She also received the Marian Sokołowski Award for the best master’s thesis in art history at the Jagiellonian University’s Institute of Art History for the 2021/2022 academic year.

Since 2021, she has co-created the artistic duo JakPiesZKotem with the artist Magdalena Kościsz. In 2024, BWA Ostrowiec presented her solo exhibition Good Intentions, featuring, among others, the series A History of the World from the Perspective of Socks and Hello, Are You Angry? In 2026, her solo exhibition Body to Body with the Mother, curated by Dorota Monkiewicz, was presented at Lotna.

Her work has been shown, among other venues, in the final exhibitions of the Hestia Artistic Journey competition at the Museum on the Vistula in Warsaw and in the Bielska Jesień Painting Biennale exhibitions. She lives and works in Kraków.
