Julia Ciunowicz is a textile artist, craft practitioner, and researcher working at the intersection of artistic practice and critical inquiry into socially and ecologically engaged art. She graduated from the Faculty of Visual Culture Management at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and from the Social Arts programme at the University of Warsaw. She is a member of the texpol collective.

Her practice centres on textiles and plant-based materials, exploring themes of folklore, the history of women's labour, and relationships between humans and nature. Drawing on the history of textile production, she examines its social significance while reinterpreting traditional techniques in contemporary contexts. She also runs her own studio, Dzikie Sploty ("Wild Weaves"), where she develops projects focused on natural dyeing, weaving, and basketry.

Since 2021, she has collaborated with the Bureau of Post-Artistic Services (Biuro Usług Postartystycznych), creating community-based projects with the local residents of Opolno-Zdrój. Since 2024, together with Maja Jancza and Anna Ptak, she has been conducting research into the history of the textile industry and the gendered dimensions of Poland's post-socialist transformation in Lower Silesia. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art (2024), Ferment Dom (2024), and the Ethnography Department of the National Museum in Gdańsk (2025).

Her work has been presented in exhibitions including Beyond the Horizon at Aspekty Gallery in Warsaw and Soil and Friends at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art. She also collaborated on Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet's exhibition at Zachęta – National Gallery of Art, contributing to its research and production. She actively exhibits in Poland and internationally.
