Sławek Max Machina
Lisowski
18.09.2026 - 31.10.2026Sławomir Belina combined high art with pop culture, fashion, and everyday life. He moved freely between photography, performance, video, and text, never committing himself to a single medium or artistic role. Photography served him both as a means of documentation and as a space for experimentation—a place where he constructed his own image, invented fictional narratives, and explored ideas of the body, sexuality, and identity. His work was marked by irony and absurdity, expressed both through the images themselves and their titles. Rather than offering clear-cut messages, Belina used provocation to stimulate the viewer’s imagination. Alongside his artistic practice, he helped shape the visual language of Polish lifestyle magazines in the early 2000s, producing photo editorials for publications including Max and Machina. Following his death in 2019, his work largely disappeared from public view. The exhibition at Lisowski Gallery marks the beginning of work on Belina’s archive.
