I have to go back home now
Marszałkowska 18
18.09.2026 - 06.10.2026In her work, Sawicka addresses themes including the violence she experienced from those closest to her since childhood, and the traumas resulting from other difficult life experiences.
She also speaks about anger and violence directed at herself. About hatred toward someone you cannot escape.
The events she lived through, along with the burden of living with undiagnosed autism, ADHD, and dyslexia, led to the development of dissociative disorders. The rug, rewoven anew, the one on which, lying down, she "spent hours leaving herself", becomes a material trace of childhood and a symbol of reclaiming repressed memories. For the past two years, the artist has been returning to them through art, drawing out from the recesses of memory what remained hidden for years.
The exhibition is an attempt to reclaim her own narrative, to come to terms with the past, and an invitation to reflect on memory, trauma, and mental health.
Ultimately, this is an exhibition born of love.
