Yana Bachynska / Jan Bačynsjkyj (born 1991 in Lviv) is a multimedia artist, film director, and sculptor active in the field of socially engaged art. He graduated with a degree in philosophy from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (2013) and in multimedia from the Academy of Art in Szczecin (2019). He is a co-founder of Art Platform (2013), through which he actively resisted gentrification by creating an independent cultural center, as well as of Queer.War.Archive (2024).

His work primarily focuses on queer narratives, gender identity, and historical memory. He has participated in exhibitions such as: “Parajanov. I Want to Outrun My Shadow” at Zachęta – National Gallery of Art (2024), “A Privileged Refugee” at Trafostacja Sztuki in Szczecin (2024), “Pantheon of Fleeing Spirits” at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin (2023), and “Apples from My Garden” at Cité internationale des arts in Paris (2022).
