For this year’s Warsaw Gallery Weekend, gallery TBA invites you to an exhibition featuring the duo: Konrad Krzyżanowski — a Polish painter for whom this will be the first major presentation in Warsaw — and Andrii Rachynskyi, a Ukrainian artist who, following his participation in the 2024 Venice Biennale, will be showcasing his work more broadly in Poland for the first time.

This is a meeting of two distinct artistic languages, moving along the boundary between what is visible and what is remembered. Krzyżanowski and Rachynskyi share a common space where their images intermingle and resonate with one another. They are united by a tension between experience and its trace, between the gesture and what remains of it.

Krzyżanowski’s painting resembles the structure of memory — constructed in layers from fragments that never form a coherent narrative. His works echo something that happened outside the frame, but still resonates within us. Rachynskyi uses the bromoil technique, which gives his works the quality of fleeting memory — something that appears and immediately vanishes, leaving behind only a shadow or a trace of presence.

"Coincidental " does not document or tell linear stories. It is an exhibition about what is blurry, uncertain, and unnamed. Both artists engage with themes of memory and the image that resists being fully grasped.

It is a story of presence that operates even in the absence of something. Of an image that doesn’t show directly, but lingers with us. Of a gaze that does not end at the eye, but persists — in the body, in space, in the tension between.
