Julia Woronowicz's exhibition is a complex, multi-layered narrative in which the artist adopts the form of a fictional diary written by a teenage queen to present the transformations of adolescence in an exaggerated, larger-than-life manner. Woronowicz employs her characteristic strategies of confabulation, ethno-fiction, and symbolic appropriation—this time placing the emotional turmoil of youth within the regal context of power, rituals, and isolation. Through paintings, sculptures, and texts, the artist constructs a herstorical narrative about girlhood and strength—a force that must first be tamed in order to emerge. The exhibition becomes a chronicle of emotions: every uncertainty takes on the scale of a political conflict, every act of rebellion grows into a full-fledged coup. It is an ironic yet empathetic fairytale of growing up—a royal saga in which inner transformations take on the magnitude of national myths.
