Szydłowski
opening at 18.09.2025The exhibition at Szydłowski Gallery during Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2025 is a juxtaposition of Wiktor Dyndo's latest series of paintings “The State of Crisis” with multimedia works by Jakub Koźniewski created under the title “Models of Crisis”. The coincidence of the names, or more precisely the repetition of the word “crisis” in both artists is a manifestation of a similar sensitivity to the contemporary imbalance both in the political system of the Western world and in the personal dimension at the level of psychological balance. These two scales are interrelated, although they can sometimes manifest themselves in different ways. The inner and outer worlds seem to view each other in a mirror parallel marked by an uncertain future.
Wiktor Dyndo has had many institutional shows in Poland and abroad in recent years since participating in WGW'21. Recent shows include those at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Zachęta Gallery and the City Gallery in Lodz. The leading motifs in his work are representations of political power, conflict and the clash between the time scale of universal history and individual human experience. A recent series of oil-on-canvas paintings refers to the architecture of power, which, regardless of its temporary dimension, stages itself as eternal and sublime through structures of stairs and elevations made of noble materials like marble and granite.
Jakub Koźniewski is a digital artist who simultaneously programs and builds the material shell of his robotic works. Koźniewski is known to an international audience for his multimedia projects awarded at the most important festivals of technology in culture in Europe like Ars Electronica in Austria or Transmediale in Germany realized as the PanGenerator collective. The “Models of Crisis” series shown at WGW represents the artist's first solo exhibition project.
