A Wave of Paint. Collaborative painting with Wojciech Gilewicz

Le Guern Gallery invites you to a meeting with Wojciech Gilewicz and a participatory painting session as part of the exhibition “Relief: Carrier Wave”. The artist, together with the audience, will carry out a painting intervention inspired by the Rorschach test. As a result, Gilewy will be created – unique objects made exclusively from materials and items found on the street or in the trash.

Gilewy is Gilewicz’s original series, initiated in 2019, in which the artistic form is just as important as the potential usefulness of the work itself, with everything subordinated to rigorous material requirements. Each piece—whether a found object, ready-made, sculpture, installation, or textile—must meet strict material criteria, remaining fully rooted in practices of recovery and recycling.

In the context of well-known art terms such as Abakans or Tarasy, Gilewy, through their ecological, cost-free, and radical nature, can in a sense be read as a challenge to the contemporary paradigm of the artist, along with its notions of individuality, originality, and market value.
