What Happens on Earth Stays on Earth

18.09.2026 - 24.10.2026Magdalena Lazar presents a new series of works situated at the intersection of local memory, geology, and speculative biology. The project draws on both the artist's personal experience of the post-industrial landscape of Upper Silesia, where she was born, and a broader reflection on a world in which no environment remains untouched by human activity. The exhibition's title evokes cyclical processes in which nothing truly disappears: extracted, transformed, or discarded matter continues to circulate as memory, energy, or trace, at times assuming mythical or alchemical dimensions. This perspective also encompasses shared narratives, culture, and language, including the gradually disappearing Silesian dialect. At the same time, Lazar turns our attention to what often escapes human perception: subterranean ecosystems and microbial life brought to the surface through mining. The exhibition reveals a world in constant circulation, where every intervention leaves a lasting trace.
