The Avant-Garde Institute, founded by the Foksal Gallery Foundation in 2004, preserves and shares Edward Krasiński's studio with a broader audience. Located in the space he inherited from avant-garde pioneer Henryk Stażewski, the studio remains unchanged since Krasiński’s passing in 2004. It features a unique arrangement of works created between 1988 and 2002, with his signature scotch blue tape placed at a height of 130 cm “everywhere and on everything.” As he once said, “I don’t know if it’s art, but it’s definitely scotch blue, 19mm wide, length unknown.”
A glass pavilion was added to the studio’s terrace, expanding the space for exhibitions, workshops, and academic discussions. The Institute’s program explores and contextualizes the avant-garde traditions of Stażewski and Krasiński, fostering dialogue between ephemeral art and contemporary perspectives. This approach makes it a distinctive experiment in modern museology.
