LETO presents the first comprehensive survey of the work of Wanda Marzec (1944–2023) in Warsaw. For many years, the artist remained outside the mainstream narrative of art history – her work largely disappeared from public awareness following her emigration to the United States and a subsequent long period of artistic inactivity. Wanda Marzec’s paintings stand as evidence that Polish émigré artists were able to engage successfully with modern Western aesthetic movements while preserving a distinct and highly individual sensibility. Today, her legacy is gradually being rediscovered: thanks to the dedication of her family, Wanda Marzec’s works were recently presented at the Royal Castle in Niepołomice. The exhibition at LETO is curated by Agnieszka Jankowska-Marzec.
