At the heart of the exhibition "Aether Commons: Refracted Cosmologies" is the work of Stefan Gierowski – one of the most outstanding Polish contemporary painters, whose long-standing search for light in painting, understood both as a physical and spiritual phenomenon, became an inspiration to create an international artistic dialogue. – Stefan Gierowski spent his entire life searching for light. And he never claimed to have found them, which moves me greatly. “Aether Commons” is an invitation to continue this open approach, says Azu Nwagbogu, curator of the exhibition. – The artists whose works we present here create using paint, ceramics, photography, installations and glass – and what unites them is the understanding that light is not a topic in itself. Light determines the thinking process. If you put these voices together and give them enough time and attention, together they will reveal something that neither of them could say alone.
