Burda Krystian

A graphic artist, sculptor, designer of spatial installations, and creator of sacred architecture. He graduated with distinction from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, under the guidance of professors Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz and Oskar Hansen. His diploma project, Droga do Żelazowej Woli – studium przestrzeni (The Road to Żelazowa Wola – A Study of Space), presented the concept of a road-monument dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin.

After his studies, he worked as an industrial design designer at the Rybnik Metal Products Factory of Huta Silesia, and also designed church interiors. He created bas-reliefs for altars and stained glass in seven parishes in the Silesian region.

He participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, open-air workshops, and symposia. His works were presented, among others, in the BWA (1977, 2010, 2012, 2014) and the Archdiocesan Museum (2012) in Katowice, in the ZPAP Gallery at the Artist's House (1979), the Xawery Dunikowski Museum of Sculpture (2004), the Zachęta National Gallery of Art (2004), and the 2nd Sculpture Biennale (2010) in Warsaw, as well as at the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Żelazowa Wola (2013) and the "Elektrownia" in Radom (2011). An exhibition was also held in the artist's hometown of Rydułtowy in 2014, a year before his death.
