Nobody Wants You Here / Zachęta – National Gallery of Art

Krzysztof Gil’s exhibition at Zachęta – National Gallery of Art explores the concept of the ghetto in its contemporary sense, as well as the mechanisms of exclusion present in language, visual representations and social perceptions. The artist demonstrates how stereotypes about ‘the Other’ give rise to these mechanisms and influence the perception of minorities. Through new paintings and installations created especially for Zachęta, he invites visitors to engage in dialogue and experience the exhibition personally.

The starting point here is the concept of the ghetto, understood not only as a historical form of forced isolation, but also as a contemporary mechanism of isolation and exclusion present in social and urban spaces.
