Birds and Bird-Creatures with Liliana Zeic

We invite you to a meeting with Liliana Zeic, who will talk about her works presented in the exhibition Birds and Bird-Creatures. We will take a closer look at pieces from the series The Book of Sources—an archive of non-heteronormative women’s history developed by the artist since 2020.

Additionally, there will be an opportunity to view and purchase the newly published monograph Nettles, Oddities, Frightful Creatures. The Art of Liliana Zeic. This is the first publication of such scope analyzing Liliana Zeic’s artistic practice. It combines critical essays with rich visual material, a chronology, and a bibliography. The contributing authors examine key areas of her work: feminism, queerness, ecology, and activism.

The book also represents the first comprehensive attempt in Poland to describe queer ecology within artistic practice. It shows how Zeic’s work connects reflections on gender identity and sexuality with nature studies, and how art can become a tool for dialogue and real social change. By combining artistic and activist practices, Liliana Zeic explores language, analyzes legislative processes, supports grassroots initiatives, participates in demonstrations, and collects the stories and experiences of marginalized individuals and communities.
