MEETINGS: How to Care for an Artist's Legacy? A conversation about the posthumous fate of the art of Edward Dwurnik and Zofia Rydet (sign language)

Who takes care of an artist’s work after their death, and how? How can one organize an archive and collection? How can an artist’s legacy be promoted after their passing? We invite you to a special meeting with representatives of the family foundations of Edward Dwurnik and Zofia Rydet. We will discuss how the artistic legacy of these outstanding artists has been preserved, the behind-the-scenes of daily work and life among their artworks, as well as the role of galleries in promoting an artist’s estate. Our guests will be Pola Dwurnik and Daniel Ożga from the Edward Dwurnik Foundation, and Zofia Augustyńska-Martyniak and Karol Hordziej from the Zofia Rydet Foundation.

The meeting is held in the context of the current exhibition at Raster, “People” by Edward Dwurnik and Zofia Rydet, featuring their original works from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. For the first time, we present the art of these two key figures of 20th-century Polish art side by side, revealing the intuitive affinity of their interests and their uncompromising passion for humanizing art.

The meeting will be simultaneously interpreted into Polish Sign Language.
