MEETINGS: DJ set with Colette Lumière’s music

A DJ set inspired by the work of Colette Lumière, a medley the artist's archival songs and music from the 1970s and 1980s, which formed the natural setting for her artistic activity at the time. Since the 1970s, the artist has been a key figure in New York's avant-garde art scene, where the worlds of art, music, and fashion intertwined and inspired each other. During this time, Colette primarily focused on creating performances and installations, but also created music herself as the leader of the band Justine and The Victorian Punks, which she founded in New York in the late 1970s. The DJ set will attempt to evoke the atmosphere of that era while simultaneously reconstructing Colette's artistic imagination. The event will feature original recordings by the artist and her band. The evening aims to showcase a lesser-known, musical dimension of Colette's work, which complements her artistic identity and highlights the transmediality of her practice.
