Warsaw Gallery Weekend
26–28.09.2014

Between 26 and 28 September 2014, during the first weekend of autumn, the best private galleries in Warsaw will join forces to begin Warsaw artistic season with a joint program.

The program of Warsaw Gallery Weekend will feature:

21 Warsaw’s art galleries and guest gallery SVIt from Prague, 56 artists from Poland and abroad, 10 accompanying events including special curator’s tours, conducted by journalists and experts. The galleries are expecting 10,000 visitors.

Warsaw Gallery Weekend can only be compared to the Night of Museums. However, WGW is an event which lasts for the whole weekend, from Friday to Sunday, and is filled with art, artistic events, meetings and walks. Every year at the same time, Warsaw private galleries, which are the primary scene of shaping art market and a source of income for contemporary artists, are preparing joint, premiere program, which goes far beyond their daily activities. The core part of Warsaw Gallery Weekend consists of new, fresh material, coming straight from art studios, presented in the most direct form: by the artists and curators.

This program is complemented by panel discussions, meetings with artists, visits to the galleries and art studios, and these are just a few of its elements. Every year, the program of WGW focuses on presentation of the living tissue of art in the capital, but also highlights cultural role of private galleries, which are the link between the artists and the audience.

Just as during the Night of Museums, admission to all events is entirely free of charge.
